Designed by Tessa Kingsbury in Dunedin Aotearoa New Zealand, this project delighted judges with its quirkiness and intelligence. Recognised as a thoughtful adaptation, it responds sensitively to the local climatic conditions, nestles into the canopy of an existing tree, and joyfully balances prospect and refuge to create an iconic, biophilic home.

Awarded by the Window & Glass Association of New Zealand, the Kingsbury Glasshouse Project was named Supreme Winner for its surprising and skilful use of glass, heritage restoration and new design.

Recognised for the restoration of a 1950s sunday school hall in Dunedin and the incorporation of its 70-year-old fabric into a new home, with the glasshouse forming the central connection between old and new.
